Sea Moss, Bladderwrack, and Burdock Root Benefits

Many of you have probably heard about the benefits of sea moss gel and the advantages of consuming this superfood daily. Most blogs and online sources sharing information about sea moss gravitate towards sea moss gel, the most popular way to take sea moss.

But taking sea moss does not limit to the gel. There are numerous ways to reap the benefits of this nutrient-dense seaweed, including capsules, pills, powder, gummies, or even raw.

Sea Moss

Sea moss is a type of red algae that is commonly found along the rocky Atlantic coast of Ireland and the Caribbean. This edible seaweed has been harvested for its health properties for centuries.

Scientifically known as Chondrus crispus, sea moss, or Irish moss, is often described as a spiny and red seaweed, but its color can vary depending on the environment in which it has grown and the nutrients it has absorbed.

Benefits for health

Sea moss has tremendous benefits for your physical and mental health as well as for your skin and hair. Its potent health properties come from its exceptional nutrient density and variety. Rumor has it that sea moss may contain up to 92 of the 102 minerals and vitaminsour body needs to function, including the most essential ones such as iron, magnesium, iodine, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, vitamin B complex, and others.

While the Irish and Caribbean people have discovered and used sea moss as a natural preventive and curative remedy for centuries, it only recently came to American nutritionists’ attention that this alga is one of the best superfoods you can have.

Now on the top of the health and wellness scene, sea moss is currently under numerous scientific investigations and believed to help prevent and treat a plethora of health conditions, including:

How does sea moss work?

As you can see, the list of sea moss’s potential benefits for health is quite extensive. But that doesn’t mean it’s magical. Most chronic health conditions we suffer from today are caused by nutrient deficiencies and exposure to toxins. Sea moss acts on the roots of our problems by naturally nourishing the body with a great variety of nutrients and detoxifying it.

While two tablespoons of sea moss gel or two sea moss capsules are considered an efficient and safe daily dosage, it can only work if incorporated within a healthy lifestyle and a nutritionally balanced diet.

At Organics Nature, we obviously believe that sea moss is a potent ingredient everyone can benefit from. But we’re also aware that nature has more to offer than one ingredient only.

Tons of natural foods are beneficial for human health, including seaweed, roots, fruits, vegetables, seeds, herbs, spices, and others. Combining them (reasonably) can only multiply their positive effects and improve our overall health.

So, we've run hundreds of tests and trials before discovering that one of the best combinations is the synergy between sea moss, bladderwrack, and burdock root.

Bladderwrack

Bladderwrack

Bladderwrack has not gained the same popularity as sea moss yet, but it’s a similar seaweed that also shows great promise for our health.

What is bladderwrack?

Bladderwrack, scientifically known as Fucus vesiculosus and sometimes called sea grapes, rockweed, red fucus, dyers fucus, rock wrack, black tang, or bladder fucus, is a type of brown seaweed found along the coasts of the North sea, Baltic sea, and Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, including in some waters in Canada and the United States.

Bladderwrack is a type of kelp that has historically been associated with traditional, herbal, and holistic alternative medicines.

Like sea moss, it’s rich in dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They work superbly together and are often used in synergy in health supplements.

Bladderwrack’s health benefits

In alternative medicines, bladderwrack is renowned for its positive impacts on numerous health conditions, such as iodine deficiency, obesity, joint pain, skin aging, digestive issues, urinary tract infection, and thyroid dysfunction.

Like sea moss, the high iodine content of this brown seaweed stimulates thyroid function, which boosts metabolism. Consequently, consuming bladderwrack regularly is associated with an efficient fat-burning process and weight loss.

It also has an excellent reputation in the relief of rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis and may be used both internally and topically on inflamed joints.

Bladderwrack is also beneficial for the skin. Skin issues that can be addressed with bladderwrack extract are skin aging, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, burns, and cellulite. Like sea moss, several natural compounds found in bladderwrack help prevent collagen deficiency and promote the body’s natural collagen production to improve skin appearance and limit the signs of aging.

Finally, bladderwrack is also considered a natural diuretic. It helps flush unwanted bodily fluids, decreasing bloating and water retention.

As you can see, many of bladderwrack's benefits are similar to those of sea moss. That’s why they work so great in synergy and complete each other so well.

Now, we’ve also decided to add Burdock root powder to our sea moss and bladderwrack capsules, and here’s why.

Burdock root

Burdock roots

Burdock root is a wonderful natural ingredient that’s very popular in Japanese cuisine, where it's known for its numerous health benefits. It can be eaten, dried and steeped into a tea, or ground into a fine powder like the one we use to enrich our sea moss capsules.

What is burdock root?

Native to Northern Asia and Europe, Burdock root is another gift of nature that has been used for centuries in holistic medicines.

It comes from the burdock plant, scientifically known as Arctium Lappa, closely related to daisies and sunflowers. You may have heard of burdock root without knowing it, as it's commonly called under a variety of names such as greater burdock, gobo, edible lappa, beggar’s buttons, thorny burr, or happy major.

The beige to brown roots are the most beneficial parts of the plant. They can grow up to 1 meter deep into the soil and contain a great variety of nutrients like antioxidants, inulin, calcium, potassium, amino acids, polyphenols, and others. In addition, the roots are rich in dietary fiber and very low in calories.

Burdock roots are a trendy ingredient of the macrobiotic diet focusing on a holistic approach to foods and energies.

Burdock roots’ health benefits

The most common use of burdock roots in holistic and traditional medicines is as a diuretic and digestive aid. If you’re prone to water retention, consuming burdock root could very well be your new natural remedy! Diuretics are effective in helping remove excess water that is retained in the body, offering consumers relief.

But burdock root is also believed to help detoxify the liver, improve hormonal balance, help with skin appearance, reduce inflammation, and lower blood pressure.

Due to its high content of antioxidants such as quercetin, phenolic acids, and luteolin, it is a great natural anti-inflammatory food. Studies have shown that it helps improve inflammation symptoms and stress disorders in many consumers.

Burdock roots’ antioxidative properties also help combat free radicals, harmful chemicals that accumulate in the body and are responsible for inflammation and sometimes cancer.

Last but not least, burdock root’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties are also beneficial for the skin. When used topically, it helps with skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, and eczema

Combining these health benefits with those of sea moss and bladderwrack makes our pills unique, complete, efficient, and yet all-natural health supplements that considerably improve one’s overall health and wellness when consumed regularly.
